Consult an International Intended Parent: Edvin

“As my 1.5-year-old daughter was born through IVF and surrogacy in the US while I was a Swedish citizen living in Europe, I experienced all aspects of being an international intended parent—both positive and challenging.

I’ve been in your shoes and understand how daunting—but also rewarding—it can be to initiate your fertility journey in the United States when living outside of the country.

That’s why I’m available to share my insights and experiences. Don’t hesitate to contact me with questions related to being an international intended parent, or to book a consultation to learn how PFCLA can provide the expertise you need to build your family. I can’t wait to hear from you.”

How PFCLA helps intended parents navigate international IVF

Next to pursuing IVF, choosing the fertility clinic to lead your journey is the most important decision you’ll make. Having access to a care coordinator and world-renowned physician who specializes in your case type makes a huge difference in how positive—and successful—your experience is.

That’s why intended parents from over 75 countries choose PFCLA’s international IVF services. We’ve been a part of over 14,000 happy, healthy births, and can offer you a 44.83% higher success rate¹ than the average fertility clinic.

In addition to our international IVF services, we can offer you a wide range of supplementary services from across the globe, such as insurance referral and financial planning. We know the ins and outs of shipping medications, blood, and semen from anywhere in the world. We’re extremely knowledgeable in facilitating virtual IVF journeys, and can offer clarity regarding any concern you may have, from citizenship issues to logistics.

International IVF:
The process from consultation to returning home

1

A virtual consultation with a leading physician

This can be done via Zoom, Skype, or WeChat. We can provide translation services. Our medical coordination team speaks over 13 languages.

2

Pre-cycle testing

Your physician will order a panel of lab works that you can have performed locally to minimize travel to Los Angeles. These testing results will help to decide your medications regimen.

3

Ovarian Stimulation Cycle

The average time for the egg retrieval stimulation cycle ranges from 10-14 days. You will be able to start medications locally and plan a stay in Los Angeles for 5-7 days in order to complete your ultrasounds and the egg retrieval procedure. You can fly home 24 hours after the egg retrieval procedure has been completed. If you are not using donor sperm, and we do not already have your partner’s sperm frozen on site, your partner will need to come to the clinic with you in order to deposit fresh semen samples on the egg retrieval date.

4

Embryo Fertilization

Our clinical coordinator will keep you updated on the embryo's culturing process. A day or two after the eggs have been retrieved, we will provide a fertilization report. The fertilized embryos will be cultured for 5-7 days, and then be biopsied and sent for PGT-A (preimplantation genetic testing, also known as PGS). It takes 1-2 weeks for the final embryos results to be provided.

5

Embryo Transfer

You can start the medications locally; the embryo transfer procedure usually takes place between days 19 and 21 of the menstrual cycle. This is followed by a pregnancy blood test approximately 10 days post-implantation. You will need to plan a one or two day stay in Los Angeles for the transfer procedure; you may fly back home the day after the frozen embryo transfer procedure has been completed. An ultrasound before the frozen embryo transfer procedure and the pregnancy blood test can be done locally. You can also follow up with your own OBGYN for your 6-, 8-, and 10-week ultrasounds; our physician will review the reports, and you will be discharged from our center to your OB care after your 10-week ultrasound with your OB.
