We were living in Utah having moved there for jobs from Southern California. We’d been married and were trying to start a family but with no success. I’d gone to a few “specialists” in Utah who did a couple tests but basically told me to stop “worrying” about it and it’ll happen naturally!!! How I hated to always hear that!!! I got online trying to researh In-Vitro and looking for the “best of the best” doctors when I happened upon Dr. Sahakian in Los Angeles. I called his office and was surprised to have the Dr. himself call me back the next day and talk with me for about 30 minutes!! He asked me questions none of the other Drs seemed to think were important. In that brief phone conversation he determined a few additional tests were warranted. With those results he figured out the cause of my not getting pregnant!!! Within a couple months, we were moving home to Southern California to start our process with Dr. Sahakian and his staff!! My first HCG reading after our first try was a 14!! The nurse told me I was theoretically pregnant but they were looking for #s much higher – “but come back in a few days!” I did come back and my # was 32…she said they were expecting #s in the thousands by then – “but come back in a few days!” My #s kept increasing ever so slightly. They were all trying to keep it real for me- never pessimistic- but they weren’t ever too encouraged and were preparing me for “miscarriage”. Bottom line, at about 10 weeks along, Dr. Sahakian showed me the picture of a strong little heart beating away!!! My mom and I just cried – even the nurse in the room with us started to cry!!! I went on to carry full term (and then some!!) and gave birth to our miracle baby boy, NICO on June 13th 2003!!!!!
