From Bruce & Teri …

My husband, Bruce, and I were married in 1991 and started thinking seriously about starting a family in 1992.  We weren’t successful with the traditional methods of getting pregnant, so we entered the world of infertility testing.  After undergoing several tests, including a hysterosalpingogram and a laparoscopy, it was discovered that both of my tubes were badly scarred.  We were told in 1993 that the only chance for us to get pregnant was through invitro fertilization.  Back then, we felt the chances for our success were not good enough for the emotional and financial investment so we looked to others options.  We became foster parents in 1995 to a wonderful 2-year old boy whom we were lucky enough to adopt.

Well, our son had been such an only child for 5 years that we decided to in 2000 that he really needs a sibling or two.  I was looking into adoption programs again when my husband said, “Why don’t we see if we can get you pregnant this time?”  I was excited about that possibility and jumped on the Internet to research the options out there.  The web site for the Pacific Fertility Center offered so much information and we were excited to see that the success rates had improved with technology since we looked into it seven years ago.  We were intrigued by the financial options available – especially the refund plan with a partial refund available if we’re not successful after three attempts.  Before making a decision, we decided to call Bruce’s cousin, who lives in Michigan.  We remembered that he and his wife struggled with infertility and went through several rounds of invitro procedures in tow different states before finally getting pregnant at a clinic here in Southern California.  We wanted to find out where they went – they told us that Dr. Sahakian at Pacific Fertility Center is the one who could finally get them pregnant!  We then made an appointment to meet with Dr. Sahakian.  After meeting with Dr. Sahakian and his wonderful staff, we knew that Pacific Fertility Center was the choice for us.  Although I was 38 years old at the time, he was cautiously optimistic about our chances for success.

We signed up for the refund plan during this initial visit and were excited to leave there with a detailed calendar for the following month which specified the dates and times to administer the various medications.

At the end of that month we went back in to Pacific Fertility Center to have Dr. Sahakian check on our egg production.  We were scheduled to return within a few days to have the egg retrieval performed.  We were thrilled to learn that Dr. Sahakian retrieved 21 eggs to be fertilized.  Three days later we returned to discuss how many of the fertilized eggs became viable embryos.  We had 7 viable embryos and we were faced with the decision of how many to transfer.  The possibility of a multiple pregnancy of more than 2 or 3 babies was pretty scary… yet we knew that the more embryos transferred, the greater our chances of success.  Dr. Sahakian counseled us well – he told us that due to my more mature age (38 at the time), the chances of becoming pregnant with more than one or two babies were pretty slim.  It was our decision to make, of course, but he encouraged us to transfer all 7 embryos, which we did.

We were overjoyed to say that we got pregnant on our first try and gave birth to twins – a boy and a girl – on October 13th, 2000.

We had such an incredibly wonderful experience working with the professional, efficient, warm, caring and supportive staff.  Everyone was so genuine in his or her hopes for our success.  We can’t say enough about the gratitude we feel towards Pacific Fertility Center!

PS…We have since learned that we have neighbors who conceived their 2 year-old twins with the assistance of Dr. Sahakian and his staff, too.  This neighbor referred two different friends to Dr. Sahakian and they were successful too!
